First of all I would like to express just how much I enjoy teaching in Secondary School. When a young mind is struggling to understand some of the complex systems and theories (more often than not this is related to programming!!) .... I see it as my job to find as many ways possible to explain and engage your child. The joy is in seeing children finally grasp a complex concept in detail, even if it is after some proper graft on behalf of the child and myself! Unfortunately too often students do not get the time they need with a teacher in school. 1-2-1 tuition gives your child quality teaching time which often results in a marked improvement in their grades, and hopefully this will also nurture a love of the subject too!! I have found that students often come to me when they have lost their way a little with the subject, perhaps feeling like they are drowning in the vast terminology or perhaps programming concepts…to name a few. They may be low in confidence as a result. I aim to remedy this, with gentle encouragement and small wins to start with (easier questions) to build their confidence. We would then work up to more complex questions when they are ready. I will use a combination of self-created questions as well as a vast array of past exam questions which I have access to as a teacher in a top UK school. After studying Computer Science at the University of Hertfordshire (many years ago!) I worked in the tech industry for 15 years in companies in the Marketing Technology, Mobile Communications & Financial Technology (FinTech) spheres….specialising in Data Design & Data Development & Database Administration specifically. During lockdown I decided on a change in direction and went to UCL (University College London) to gain my PGCE and gained QTS - Qualified Teacher Status. I have 3 children of my own & live in west London. I trained as a teacher at the prestigious independent Merchant Taylors’ School & now have the pleasure of working as a teacher for the last 3 years teaching Years 7-13 (including GCSE & A Level) students in a (top 3% of the country) state school in west London. I have taught the Computer Science OCR & AQA curriculum. When explaining difficult concepts to students, my experience in industry is really useful as I can use examples to illustrate the concepts….this really helps students to embed the learning. My lessons are typically 1 hour long. I welcome students from Asia & UK - please get in touch if you’d like to discuss any thoughts around my availability. For UK students I have limited availability on weekends and for students from South East Asia I am available around 6am - 12pm on select weekdays & weekends. I truly look forward to speaking with you, and helping your child achieve the best that they possibly can!**Extended DBS checked as I am currently a teacher in a state school. Available on request.
I look forward to hearing from you !-Mez Pattni PGCE- Fully Qualified Teacher of Computer Science & Private Tutor
